Create a Days Between Measure in an Aim

Days Between Aims measures are particularly helpful when tracking occurrences of things like CAUTI, CLABSI, MRSA Transmission, and Falls.

Create a Driver Diagram Aim

  • Navigate to the Improvement Page

  • Click thethree-dot menu on the top right

  • Select "Create Aim"

  • Select "Driver Diagram"

  • Click Start Here or the ✏️ Edit button to begin entering your Aim components:

    • Title e.g. "Reduce occurrences of..."

    • Start Date (optional but encouraged)

    • Target End Date (optional)

    • Description (optional details)

    • Our Values (select one or multiple)

    • Aim Focus (select one or multiple)

  • Click Save

  • LENS will open the new Aim

Create an Aim Measure

  • Click ➕ Create a New Measure to link/associate a new Measure to the Aim

  • Select "Days Between"

  • Enter Measure data

    • Event Label what event are you measuring the days between?

    • Start Date when will you start measuring the days between?

    • Linked Aims which aims does this measure relate to?

    • Chart Title what will you call your chart?

  • Click Save

The "Days Between" Measure will populate inside of the Aim in the form of a card.

Add Data Points

  • Open the measure

  • Click the ➕ Quick Add button for data points

  • Enter quantitative and qualitative data

  • Click Save

Understanding the Data

The large number indicates the current days between specified event.

"Best" indicates the longest days between the specified event.

"Average" indicates the average number of days between the specified event.
