Embedding a Google Document on the Today Page
You can embed a Google Doc, Google Slide, or Google Sheet to display directly on your Today Page. The document will display live, meaning changes saved to the file will automatically update on your LENS Today Page update.
The example below uses Google Slides, but the same instructions apply to Google Docs and Google Sheets.
In the Google Document
Access the embed code for your document:
Open the file in Google Docs, Google Slides, or Google Sheets
Select File > Publish to the Web
If this option is greyed out, see the troubleshooting section below
Select the Embed tab
Click Publish (if this is your first time publishing the document)
For Google Slides: set the slide duration with Auto-advance slides
Copy the iframe embed code from the text box
In an Update on LENS
Navigate to the Today Page
Create a new Update
Select the three-dot menu of the text editor
Click the
<>
"Code View" icon
Note: You will know you are in code view when the <>
icon is blue
Add Embed Code
Paste in your embed code here
Click the
<>
icon again to exit code view
Note: You have to click the <>
icon again in order to save your embed code!
See the preview
Click Save if you like what you see.
Troubleshooting: Publish to Web is Not an Option
If Publish to Web is not available, it may be because your file is still in .PPTX format (for Slides).
To fix this:
Select File
Select Save as Google Slides
The Google Slides version will open in a new tab
Full functionality, including Publish to Web, will now be available
